Q. Are white boxers rare?  I hear of breeders who sell them for a very high fee and claim that they are rare.

A. White boxers are not rare.  Reputable breeders would NEVER call them rare and try to get more money out of them.  White boxers can make wonderful pets but are not eligable for full registration through AKC and they are not sold for as high a price.

Q. Are all white boxers deaf?

A. NO, not all white boxers are deaf. In fact, only about 18% of whites are deaf.

Q. Are white boxers albinos?

A. No, White boxers are not albinos. Albinos do not have pigment, white boxers do have pigment.

Q. I heard white boxers sunburn easily.  Is this true.

A. Yes, White boxers can sunburn easy. You should use sunscreen on them if they will be outside for extended periods of time.

Q. What are the frequent health problems associated with white boxers?

A. White boxers can be born deaf. Some people claim that whites are sicker and have more cancer but this has never been a proven fact.

Q. Can I register my white boxer?

A. White boxers can be registered BUT the white boxer does not meet the American Boxer Club's standard. The members code of ethics states that it is a infraction to register with the American Kennel Club a boxer of any color not allowed by the Standard.

Q. Can I breed my white boxer?

A. White boxers should ALWAYS be spayed/neutered. It is considered highly unethical to breed a white boxer. Reputable breeders would NEVER do this.

Q. How many boxers are born white  

A. The guess is that about 25% or so are born white.

Q. Do white boxers "act" like other boxers?

A. Yes, they do. The white is simply a coat color, the same as brindle and fawn.
